This book is based on the two days of study that the Prospective and Innovation Foundation devoted to breakthrough technologies.
The first is that disruptive technologies, born of the digital revolution or associated with it, are presently combining to cut across a fundamental qualitative threshold, ushering in the era of the augmented Anthropocene and, in due course, a history that will give artificial intelligence and human prostheses an increasing edge over humanity itself.
The second is that this forecast has already been fulfilled, insofar as all the conditions are already in place and leading to rapid advances – even as our ability to anticipate or even to conceive of their economic, social, geopolitical and mental impacts is still lagging far behind. Herein lies the challenge awaiting humanity.

la Fondation Prospective & Innovation. Créée en 1989 par René MONORY, ancien Président du Sénat et ancien ministre, et François DALLE, ancien Président de l’Oréal, reconnue d’utilité publique, la Fondation est aujourd’hui présidée par Jean-Pierre RAFFARIN, ancien Premier Ministre, Membre honoraire du Parlement.
Elle a pour objet de favoriser une prise de conscience et une réflexion prospective sur les transformations fondamentales du monde contemporain, afin d’aider les décideurs français, le gouvernement comme les entreprises ou les leaders d’opinion, à réagir en connaissance de cause.
Elle s’efforce d’apporter un éclairage international sur des sujets stratégiques. Elle facilite les contacts entre jeunes professionnels français et leurs homologues de pays émergents. Elle appuie les efforts des entreprises, notamment celles de taille moyenne ou intermédiaire, dans leurs efforts de pénétration des nouveaux grands marchés.
Elle réunit à cet effet spécialistes et responsables d’entreprises, intellectuels et décideurs politiques et administratifs de sensibilités différentes, dans des cadres de travail appropriés pour des propositions opérationnelles.
